Cabernet Vines in the MorningVineyard
In the heart of the Napa Valley, just three miles east of St. Helena, Conn Creek flows out of Howell Mountain through Conn Valley. All of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for Eagles Trace are grown in estate vineyards located in this region. The lush fruit from our grapes gives Eagles Trace wines great richness of flavor and sense of place.

Vintage
The 2003 vintage began with an unpredictable growing season. A series of heat spikes in March lead into the wettest April on record. The summer was cool allowing for flavors to evolve beautifully ahead of sugar development. A heat spike in September allowed what was going to be a late harvest to develop normally giving very rich flavors to the grapes.

Winemaker's Notes
Gus AndersonThe 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon displays a classic dark ruby color with a bouquet of cream de cassis, leather, all spice, cigar box, and black peppercorns. The taste is plum, cherry, blackberry, and cassis with fine ripe tannins. Given an hour of aeration the wine fairly explodes with flavor. It will easily live for 20 years.
